Childish Gambino - Fire Fly
A friend from work gave me Camp, his first studio album, for Christmas and after giving it a few listens…meh. There are some songs on there that sound really nice —- Glover has an ear for beats and different tastes, which I love —- but his lyrics are too silly for me. I can’t take him serious. There’s nothing wrong with jokey rap (Das Racist, for example), but I like it when the lyrics are written so technically spot on or some form of insight is still given (again, Das Racist) that there’s more to the music than straight punchlines.
This is probably my favorite song on the album though. It makes me want to hang out in the sun with friends and kick back.
