Wow, the floodgates of nostalgia are wide open right now. This show, El Chavo del Ocho, is one of my parents’ all-time favorites and the chance of it being on in the background were high back when we were living in our apartments.

It’d been years since I last saw this show. I remember I used to cry like Quico for fun, uttering a guttural cry before finding a wall to lean next to and sob away.

In this clip, El Chavo meets El Chapulin Colorado, another character portrayed by Roberto Gomez Bolano from another (and also pretty funny) series. 

Frankly, rediscovering this show at random today shocked me. I have such clear memories of me as a little boy, chubby and donning a bowl cut, sitting on our rug in front of the TV in our tiny, one-bedroom apartment over in Ballard. Fast forward some thirteen years or so later and it’s the same show, but entirely different circumstances.
